Tips & tricks
- Quick simmered pizza sauce: Simmer 1 1/2 cups passata with 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and black pepper for about 5 minutes, until reduced to 1 cup.
- No-cook pizza sauce: Mix 1/2 cup tomato paste, 1/2 cup passata, 1 minced garlic clove, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and black pepper.
- Why two cheeses: Mozzarella is mild and low in salt, so the tasty cheese adds flavor and saltiness.
- Timing: Bake the garlic toast while you assemble the dip, then rewarm it in the oven just before serving.
